M. Night Shyamalan

I see dead people

” I see dead people,” whispers Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) , a secret he shares with child psychologist Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) . In his third offering to date, M Night Shyamalan packs a blow-out punch with a film that not only suspenseful but also tugs at the heartstrings.

The movie begins in Malcolm’s bedroom, where a patient from the past shoots him and then pulls the trigger on himself. His relationship start to sour with after that. He then tries to help Cole , whose troubles are haunting similar to the patient who shot him.

But the main star of the show is Cole. Scenes with his mother(Toni Collette) are heart breaking beautiful. With his big emotive eyes he makes a performance worthy of remeberance. While Malcolm tries to help him, he actually helps Malcolm to realise that the one thing that will blow everything away in an amazingly crafted ending, where finally, the pieces fit together.

I watched the movie 6 years too late. But being late is better than never watching it. Go watch. Now.

Prey and predator

Some books are borrowed to be read and mulled upon. This one is definitely not it. Ah well, I have the Power of one for that.

Rants 10:31 am

My friend Tingying is a Mayday cum Winnie the Pooh fan, with just a little more inclination towards the Band of five. Just hours ago, she released the most awesome news . Ever. In the voice of a deranged girl who had seen aliens landing just outside her window she cried out to me on MSN messenger.

” They are coming! “

Fighting my urge to pack up my luggage and leave the country for say, Germany, I hurriedly told her I had to go while closing my window. With Singapore being so small , I calculated they could take less than 5 nanoseconds to get here on their new space age space ship which probably had upgrades since the last Taken series by Steven Spielberg.

In time, it became increasing clear that the prospect of Aliens landing on earth was remote.

“Mayday. They are coming this Sunday,” she gushed.

This was news to me. Indeed ever since I bought their new Zhi zu CD I knew I had found a gem of a band. Sure I couldn’t understand some of their Hokkien. But their songs. Oh my gosh. Their songs kicks ass.

So you wanna see a wanna-be fan in a crowd full of giggling schoolgirls ? See you this Sunday, 2.30 at the Hello! shops by Singtel just outside Takashimaya.

I can’t wait.

Mayday! Mayday!
